“I chose to do postgraduate studies at the University of Tasmania because I was looking for a career change and the opportunity to raise my family in Australia.

“I chose to focus on accounting after being told that it offered good career prospects in Australia and was attracted to the low fees on offer at the University of Tasmania. My postgraduate studies absolutely helped me prepare for my work and life in Tasmania. I have just completed my third year with Deloitte in the area of taxation and business advisory services and have now branched out and started my own business.

“While at the University of Tasmania I particularly enjoyed units like business law, Australian taxation law and financial and corporate accounting because the lecturers were outstanding. I would definitely recommend engaging with the global workplace as the unit that most prepares graduates for the real world.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University of Tasmania and now, as part of my business, IntroTas, I can continue to recommend it to international students. I would advise other international postgraduates to focus on their English skills and academic study, so that after graduation they have better chance to stay here and continue to enjoy everything that Tasmania has to offer. The air, the view and the lifestyle in Tasmania are just perfect for people who want to enjoy a real life.

“Starting this business has been a big decision for my family, but after these years of seeing the wonderful potentials of Tasmania, I started to see it as my mission to do something for the State.

“I couldn’t see myself achieving anything that I have today without my study experience in Tasmania. I have also just accepted an offer to undertake a Masters of Business Administration (Professional) with the University of Tasmania, which I believe will help me further build my knowledge and skills. It’s close to home, it offers flexible course delivery methods, and it is far more cost effective than doing a similar course in Melbourne. Ultimately it will assist me to become a better businessman.”
