Linking environment with production in agricultural landscapes

Human impact on the earth has been increasing over the past 10,000 years, largely due to the increasing intensification of agricultural production. The discipline of ecology explores this challenge in relation to the land-sparing – land-sharing spectrum. Agricultural science explores similar ideas around intensification and extensification and sustainable/regenerative agriculture. My project explores environmental accounting/natural capital accounting as a tool for facilitating the implementation of land sharing – simultaneously achieving agricultural and environmental outcomes on farms.
