Alex Thomson leads the tech support for Hunter Street, the Conservatorium of Music and Inveresk campuses of the School of Contemporary Art. Particularly involved in the tasking of workshop support, planning, WHS and Risk Assessments as well as emergency response, 1st Aid and building management.

Biography

Prior to joining UTas, Alex worked as a government engineer and field leader with expertise in heavy plant, horizontal and vertical construction, quarrying, field engineering, HAZMAT decontamination, underwater construction, High Risk Search, and explosive demolitions. He has spent a large part of his career overseas and in obscure countries, often in crisis management and in isolated leadership roles. Alex is a keen amateur historian and seems to spend large amounts of his spare time in bush locations or at home failing to grow vegetables.
