Erin is a lecturer in Journalism, Media and Communications and the First Year Coordinator for the Bachelor of Media. She was awarded her PhD in 2012, and prior to joining the University of Tasmania in 2011 she taught media studies at Murdoch University and the University of Notre Dame Australia. Her Honours thesis involved the development of an original screenplay which later won an Australian Film Commission New Screenwriter’s Award. Erin’s PhD research explored new images of the posthuman in filmic and animated retellings of Frankenstein, making original contributions to knowledge in the fields of adaptation studies, cinema studies, and animation studies. Erin’s current research focuses on children’s media and environmental pedagogy, aligning with the University’s research themes of Creativity, Culture and Society and Environment, Resources, and Sustainability.
