Linda is a PhD Candidate at The Media School. Her research is investigating news media framing of Australia's interests in Antarctica and how this influences public discourse and policy development. The RTP supported study is supervised by Professor Libby Lester, Professor Marcus Haward (IMAS) and Dr Kathleen Williams.
Linda is also a casual lecturer/tutor at The Media School and a part-time science communicator for the ARC Centre for Forest Value at the University of Tasmania. Prior to joining UTAS, Linda was a senior broadcast journalist with ABC News.
Biography
Linda’s media career has spanned 30 years. As a journalist, she has reported for all news media platforms including television, radio, print and digital. As a senior journalist for ABC News in Hobart from 2007 to 2018, Linda reported, produced and presented news on radio and television. She has covered major news events from state elections to natural disasters; and has produced original journalism which garnered numerous awards. Science, environment and health stories have been a particular focus of her news career, with two assignments to Antarctica reporting for ABC News among the highlights. Linda also has broad experience working in public relations, communications, events and other creative industries.
