Amanda brings to UTAS extensive education experience in both curriculum development and teaching. Amanda is a gifted education specialist however she has also worked in varying Tasmanian state government departments in project management and educational leadership roles, along with change management and team leader responsibilities with Aurora Energy.

Amanda is also an accomplished theatre professional having managed her own touring theatre company, and musically directed many productions within the local music theatre scene. Amanda has a keen interest in Tasmania’s Theatre Royal, having published its history in 2004: Treading the Boards: The Theatre Royal, Hobart and other theatrical developments.

Amanda’s academic research areas focus on the social and emotional development of the gifted, and related educational pedagogy, along with Dąbrowski’s Theory of Positive Disintegration.

Amanda is designing and delivering two short courses for the University College commencing in February 2019: Understanding Gifted Learners: Busting the Myths; and Understanding Gifted Learners: Voices of the Gifted.
