Laura completed a Bachelor of Health (Honours) degree at Macquarie University in 2009. Since then, she has worked in a number of research roles in health promotion, primary care and critical care. In her current role at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre she has contributed to projects focusing on quality of life for people living with dementia, healthcare student placements, nutrition and respiratory care, all within the residential aged care setting. Laura also manages the GP Registrar Dementia Education Program which delivers interactive and engaging dementia education to GPs and GP Registrars across Australia.

Research Themes

Laura's research aligns to the University's research theme of Better Health. Her research interests include understanding quality of life for people living with dementia in residential aged care facilities and dementia education relevant to GPs and other health professionals and students.


Laura has previously been involved in a national project aimed at understanding quality of life for people living with dementia in residential aged care facilities. This involved partnership between five universities across Australia. Laura has also partnered with seven residential aged care facilities in Tasmania on a range of projects and seven regional training providers who deliver education and training to GP registrars and their supervisors across Australia.
