Dr William Cuellar is a lecturer in the Division of Medicine, School of Medicine, College of Health and Medicine. He is a member of the Year 1 Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) management committee. He is the current unit coordinator of Foundations of Medicine 2 (CAM102), Year 1, Semester 2 unit of the MBBS; and was previously the unit coordinator of Foundations of Medicine 1 (CAM101). He teaches gross anatomy in the MBBS and the Bachelor of Medical Research courses, as well as musculoskeletal clinical skills in the MBBS course. He also teaches applied clinical anatomy for health professionals in the Short Course Program. His current areas of research are epidemiology, the effect of ageing and sarcopenia on trunk muscles, applied anatomy, the scholarship of teaching and learning, medical education and anatomical sciences education.
Biography
William started working as a casual anatomy and clinical skills tutor at the University of Tasmania's School of Medicine in 2007. He joined the University of Tasmania as a full-time academic in 2013. William previously worked as a senior physiotherapist with the community physiotherapy service, Department of Health and Human Services Tasmania. He completed his PhD with the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, University of Tasmania, where he researched the effect of ageing and sarcopenia on the muscles of the trunk.

William currently coordinates the MBBS unit CAM102 Foundations of Medicine 2 and previously coordinated the unit CAM101 Foundations of Medicine 1. Numerous lecturers and tutors contribute to teaching and assessment and administration staff support the units.Working as a senior physiotherapist, William acquired extensive administrative experience working in multidisciplinary teams, designing and delivering of health promotion courses, supervising junior staff, supervising and providing clinical education to physiotherapy students and managing physiotherapy practices in rural and remote areas and prison service settings.

He has been involved in the design and teaching of the anatomy unit for the Bachelor of Medical Research.William was a clinical educator for physiotherapy students from various Australian universities for over 15 years. He also developed and delivered health promotion courses and activities for older adults based in rural and remote settings.
