A Mechanistic Markov Model for Gene-Family Duplicates Evolving

My research focuses on the applications of stochastic modelling in phylogenetics. We want to construct a mathematical model to infer the dynamics of macro-evolutionary processes which include gene duplication, gene loss, and neofunctionalization events from a phylogenetic tree. Our goal is to apply our model in the real genomic data and understand how species gain new functions in the evolutionary process.
