Biography

Cynthia Nixon has over 15 years of industry experience in the paper and energy sectors, with a focus on environmental management and business improvement.  Cynthia has a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering, a Masters in Environmental Law and a PhD in Media. Her PhD examined the influence of media and communications on transnational environmental campaigns using the Queensland based Adani Carmichael coal mine proposal as a case study. The project explored the interplay between activists, media, industry, and policy makers and questions whether mediatised environmental conflict impacts international relations and trade.  This research was a part of the Australian Research Council Project DP150103454 ‘Transnational Environmental Campaigns in the Australia-Asian Region’.
