General Responsibilities

Sankar has an extensive background in medical education and received the Medal of the Order of Australia for his outstanding contributions to medical education and wound care in 2005. He was also the recipient of the University of Tasmania Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning Vice-Chancellor’s Award in 2008. In 1991-2006, he was a staff specialist in General Surgery at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania, and Professor in Surgery, School of Medicine, University of Tasmania. He has practised surgery in India, Zambia and Papua New Guinea.
