Dr Quan Huynh is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. He is interested in the field of cardiovascular research. His current projects involve predicting and preventing the risks of readmissions among heart failure patients.

Biography

Before joining the University of Tasmania, Quan was a medical doctor in Vietnam. He then came to Australia to pursue his PhD in cardiovascular research at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (University of Tasmania) in 2010 and started his position as a postdoctoral research fellow since 2013.

Research Themes

Quan's research aligns to the University's research theme of Better Health. His current interests include predicting and preventing readmission risks of heart failure patients. Quan's research will help to identify heart failure patients with high risks of short term adverse outcomes. The availability of this risk score will be extremely useful in clinical practice not only in Australia but also in other countries where it will facilitate targeting high risk HF patients for intensive management. A more effective targeting of disease management programs derived from his work is likely to reduce readmissions at the same time as saving money.
