The hydraulics of Plant Reproduction

The failure of internal plant water transport systems provides a means of assessing the mortality and physiological impacts on plants in drought and heat conditions. These concepts have been used to effectively model mortality and water loss characteristics in vegetative tissues. Plant hydraulic ideas have not yet been fully developed in relation to plant reproduction but may provide a means of determining reproductive success in changing climates. My project will examine the application of the ideas and technologies of plant hydraulic physiology to reproductive structures.
