Biography

Dr Joanna Sun is a lecturer at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre. Dr Sun has worked in the Aged Care Industry in Singapore and Australia for more than 15 years. She has been a personal care assistant, Enrolled Nurse, Programme Manager (Dementia Services and Development) and Dementia Care Consultant. She has been involved in domestic and international research and public sector projects. Her research focuses on developing enabling and inclusive environments for people living with dementia. Dr Sun has developed and co-authored an environmental assessment tool for Singaporeans living with dementia with Prof Richard Fleming, the Singapore Environmental Assessment Tool (SEAT). They have also published a user guide on the SEAT for facilities providing high levels of care for people living with dementia in Singapore. Her research interest lies in understanding the influence of the built environment, culture and dementia care, and knowledge translation. Her most recent research involves understanding nursing home environments for people living with dementia across Singapore, Japan and Germany.
