The Project Sponsor is accountable to their line manager and ultimately to the Vice-Chancellor and Council for ensuring that the project meets its objectives and realises the expected benefits.
The Project Sponsor will have the following responsibilities:
- Normally chair the Project Steering Committee.
- Although the day-to-day tactical direction of the project may be delegated to the Project Manager, overall responsibility for the project outcomes remains with the Project Steering Committee or the Project Sponsor when no Project Steering Committee exists.
- Delegation authority to approve scope changes.
