About the research project

UTAS, in collaboration with its long-term industry partner, has now completed 2 PhDs in medicinal cannabis. A novel germplasm collection has been secured of 49 individuals with high cannabinoid profiles. Significant effort has been invested that enables this project to start with F2 material to develop breeding objectives that can be quantified through precise HPLC. The starting F2 material has negligible THC and a wide diversity of cannabinoid profiles providing great potential for this breeding project. This project affords potential candidates a unique opportunity to define and drive an exciting breeding program in collaboration with an industry partner and within an environment where significant financial and intellectual investment has been committed.
