Rural Placement Allowance and Travel Subsidy

The Centre for Rural Health provides financial assistance to domestic nursing and allied health students when they undertake full-time placements of two weeks or longer (defined as at least 10 days of placement activity in 14 consecutive days) in rural Tasmania. Allowances are only payable at the conclusion of placements. A link to the application will be emailed with your departure/checkout information.

Rural Placement Allowance - $75 per week of placement

Travel Subsidy (interstate allied health students only) - $300 per placement

The Rural Placement Allowance and the Travel Subsidy are not available to domestic students receiving financial assistance for placements from their schools, university, or any other body such as SARRAH or the placement provider.  It is also not available to students enrolled in a course at an interstate university which is available at the University of Tasmania.
