The South Asia Short Term Living Allowance Bursary is offered by the College of Sciences and Engineering to encourage international students from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka to study engineering and maritime logistics at the University of Tasmania, commencing study in Semester 1 or 2, 2020.
The College of Sciences and Engineering is made up of a wide range of teaching and research areas, each delivering exciting study options and world-class research.
The College capitalises on the distinctive culture and ecology of Tasmania’s island laboratory, bringing together expertise in architecture and design, information and communication technology, physical and human geography, and surveying and spatial sciences. Sustainable regional development, urban livability, Earth observations, and habitat conservation are some of our core focus areas.
Available to international students from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka who have an offer of a full-time place in one of the following eligible onshore postgraduate coursework degrees commencing in Semester 1 or 2, 2020:
- Master of Business Administration (Advanced) (Maritime and Logistics Management) (27C)
- Master of Engineering (Maritime Design) (27B1)
- Master of Logistics Management (Advanced) (27G)
- Master of Professional Engineering (Specialisation) (P7A)
This bursary cannot be held with TIS or any other UTAS scholarship or bursary.

To maintain this scholarship, students are required to achieve a minimum Pass (CGPA 4.0/7.0) result in all units studied each semester.
The bursary will be paid directly into the student's nominated Australian bank account on the following dates.
Students commencing in Semester 1, 2020: 13 March 2020, 8 May 2020, 21 August 2020 and 9 October 2020.
Students commencing in Semester 2, 2020: 21 August 2020, 9 October 2020, 12 March 2021, and 7 May 2021.
Students are assessed automatically for the South Asia Short Term Living Allowance Bursary upon submission of their International Student Application, there is no need to submit a separate scholarship application.
