University of Tasmania Student Athlete accolades celebrated among the sporting elite.
A night for big announcements as we celebrated sporting achievements of individuals and teams throughout 2018.
The Sports Person of the Year is the highest recognition of excellence within university sport at the University of Tasmania. In the midst of an extremely high standard of applications, this prestigious award went to Elite Athlete Huw Peacock (see pictured) for his selection and performance in the 2018 Commonwealth Games among other accolades.
Joining Huw in accepting a highly regarded award on the night were the Sport Club of the Year Winners, University of Tasmania Cricket Club (see pictured). Based on their high level of engagement in local schools and commitment to developing elite cricket players, the Cricket Club are well deserving of this acknowledgement.
Many accolades were presented to promising student athletes throughout the night including the Full Blues, Half Blues, Sports Scholarship recipients and Sports Council Awards. Students who received Blues awards came from a variety of sports including Rowing, Cricket, Athletics, Aikido and Futsal to name a few.
Thank you to all those in attendance, the University is excited to see what 2019 brings.
