The University Hockey Club (TUHC) Under-15 Boys and Girls teams have both capped off a great season by booking spots in their respective grand finals to be held on Monday 13th September.
The Under-15 Boys recorded a fantastic 2-0 win over the North West Hobart Graduates (NWG) team in the preliminary final on Monday night, a team that they had not been able to defeat on the three previous occasions they have met this season.
Next up for the U15 Boys is OHA, a team that they have defeated on two separate occasions this season. With their good track record against OHA and a preliminary final win over ladder-leaders NWG, expect the TUHC Boys to be full of confidence and ready to fight it out to win the premiership on Monday night.
The Under-15 Girls also had an excellent win in their preliminary final, defeating the Derwent Hockey Club 2-0 to earn themselves a spot in the grand final. The U15 Girls had lost their last two matches against Derwent, so a crucial win in the preliminary final is exceptional.
The U15 Girls will face the DiamondBacks in the grand final who finished the season on top of the ladder, recording only one loss. Although TUHC may go in as the underdogs, the team’s consistent hard work and ability to win in important matches will place them in a great position to vie for the premiership.
Make sure to get along to the games at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre in New Town on Monday night and support our junior players!
The Boys will be playing at 5:30pm on Field 2, while the Girls will be playing on Field 1 at 5:15pm.
Congratulations to all of the junior and FFM players on a great season, particularly after such a disruptive year last year!
