Lions come away in 6th place after Round 2 Uni7s

UTAS Lions had a mixed bag of results in Canberra on the weekend of September 8-9th, but did enough to come away sitting in 6th place on the leaderboard with three rounds remaining.

On day one of Round 2 of the Uni Rugby 7s in Canberra the UTAS Lion’s had a sensational day, winning two out of three games.

University of Adelaide went down to UTAS 22-24 in game one on the day. UTAS again claimed victory in game three of the day against University of Melbourne 28-12.

Macquarie Uni ended up taking out the Canberra Uni 7s leg with a shutout 26-0 win over Griffith University in the gold medal match.

The Sydneysiders fell just short in Hobart but they took their opportunity second time around and became the first team outside of UQ to walk away with a Uni 7s gold medal since the competition began.

Tournament 3 will be held in Queensland on the 22/23 Sept and will be live streamed so you can follow all the action from home: www.rugby.com.au
