A great partnership began with a Family Day at the University of Tasmania.
The University of Tasmania is excited to announce a partnership with the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos. To kick things off, the North Melbourne Australian Football League Women’s (AFLW) team held a family day at the University of Tasmania this past Saturday for students and the community to meet and interact with the players and learn more about what it takes to make it in the AFLW.
The relationship is set to focus on a commitment to further develop education and community outcomes in Tasmania, particularly for AFLW players wishing to further their education. UTAS Students will also benefit from the opportunity to volunteer and participate in work placements during match days and within the club.
This weekend was the first opportunity for the team to train together and among the players was new recruit, University of Tasmania student and Elite Athlete Nicole Bresnehan (pictured, middle).
Speaking with North Melbourne media, Nicole Bresnehan said. "I consider myself fortunate to have the flexibility in study which enables me to pursue my sporting dreams while working full time,"
"As a part-time athlete it's really important we pursue careers outside of the sport we love, and I am fortunate enough to do it in a place I love."
Round One will be held at North Hobart Oval on Sunday the 3rd February so get along to support Nicole and the team!!!
