The University of Tasmania (UTAS) and the Northern Rangers Football Club (NRFC) have announced a new partnership providing increased opportunities for both students and NRFC members with shared facilities and integrated learning opportunities at a reduced cost.
We are pleased to announce that UTAS and the Northern Rangers Football Club have collaborated to provide increased and exciting opportunities for students interested in playing football.
All UTAS students will benefit from heavily discounted rates on registration fees to play for NRFC with the option of playing in the Northern Championship or Social League.
In exchange, NRFC will have additional training options with access to UTAS sports grounds, most notably the Allenby Oval, located on the Newnham campus. To supplement the new training opportunities, all current NRFC members will also be offered corporate rates on Unigym membership options.
NRFC President, Gavin Stone, describes the partnership as “an exciting opportunity for male and female students to play the game of football”, and also explains that the NRFC is especially interested in expanding opportunities for women to play football and are working hard behind-the-scenes to grow the game and open opportunities for women in football.
NRFC is also offering coaching opportunities to UTAS students. Any students with an interest in the game, or studying to become a teacher, may benefit from utilising NRFC’s assistance to help develop coaching skills.
“The Northern Rangers look forward to welcoming students from any background to our club to help them enjoy their time in Launceston while studying and forming friendships that could last a lifetime, all while playing the World Game”, says Mr. Stone.
This partnership came into effect on January 28th, 2021.
