Ashley Day and Sasha Moloney, members of the University Cricket Club, proved their partnership to be unbeatable by scoring 400 in Sunday's Kookaburra Cup.
Up against Lindisfarne in their first One Day game of the season, the University of Tasmania women’s cricket team were quietly confident, however could not foresee the partnership that was to unfold. Opening the batting for the side was premier players Ashley Day and Sasha Moloney.
Putting in the hard yards, the pair remained for over 2 hours out on the crease with Day reaching 182 runs and Moloney close behind at 145 after 40 overs of play.
Speaking with the Mercury, Moloney said "Going in, we knew they [Lindisfarne] were quite an inexperienced team, so we thought it was a good chance to work on what we had been doing at state training and implement that in a 40-over game,"
The two women will be back at it this weekend in an attempt to beat their own record.
