Student sets her sights on Rebels Super W squad

Wynonah Conway, 2018 University of Tasmania student, makes the move to Melbourne to join the Rebels Super W train-on squad.

Announced early December, one name stood out within the 38-strong list. The University of Tasmania AON Sevens team member from 2017 and 2018 is heading for the big time!

After competing with the first Tasmanian women's rugby team in 10 years, Wynonah put on a show in a series of trial matches under the eye of the Melbourne Rebels Super W Coach Alana Thomas.

When interviewed by the Melbourne Rebel's media, Wynonah explained "She (Thomas) was watching and after chatting to her, it kind of planted the seed in my mind that it may be something I'd be interested in."

"Then the Rebels trials came around, I put in my expression of interest and now I’m here loving it."

Being the sole Tasmanian in the squad, it has been a difficult adjustment for Wynonah, however with the Super W season getting close, she is enjoying every moment of the experience and cannot wait to bring home to Tassie her new knowledge and help develop women's rugby in the state.
