Undefeated Champs

UTAS Soccer Women’s Senior Squad take home the Championship.

A team of women ranging from 15 to 34 had the near perfect season in 2019 resulting in being crowned champions. With 20 wins,1 draw and no losses, the University of Tasmania Soccer team achieved an astounding 61 points out of a possible 63.

Led by coach Amey Jambekar, ‘the Bees’ as they are known, managed to secure 88 goals with 4 players being their main scorers throughout the season. Sophie and Olivia Young spearheaded the charge both with securing 16 goals each.

“The season has been really good. It is a credit to the girls and how they have put their bodies on the line each and every week. As a coach, I could not have asked for more.” – Amey Jambekar, Coach.

Co-Captains Ellisa Bowditch and Olivia Young showed great leadership throughout and can be attributed to the team’s dominant presence on the field. A strong indication of their drive and determination to be the best is finishing off the season with only 11 goals conceded against and 12 clean sheets.

The University of Tasmania Women's Senior Squad had 21 players representing the club throughout the season including international players from the Netherlands and Denmark.

There could be one last achievement in store for either Olivia Young or Michelle Tadros as they are both in line for the league's Best and Fairest award. Football Federation’s night of nights will be this Friday and we wish the girls the best of luck!!

Go UTAS!!!
