It was a huge weekend for UTAS at Sandy Bay for round one of the 2018 Uni Rugby 7 series. Over the two days, 10 Australian University's went hard to try and get their hands on the series title. And it was a battle well fought.
University of Queensland won the first round in the final game against Macquarie University who came in hot second. Macquarie had upset the Queenslanders on day one but they fell short in the ultimate decider. The win means UQ has won every tournament on offer since the Uni 7s began.
UTAS won two games against Uni Melbourne on the first day and Bond University (26-7) on the second day. This lead UTAS to play off for the 5-6th position in the tournament but fell short against Uni Canberra (25-12), finishing on 6th place.

6th : University of Tasmania
7th: Uni of Adelaide
8th: Bond university
9th: Uni New England
10th: Uni Melbourne
The series now moves to Canberra for Round 2 on September 8-9.
