Students, Bailey Groves and Georgina Newton will be flying to Naples, Italy to take on the best around the world.

The UniRoos team is a collation of the very best students Universities around Australia can offer and as of the 3rd of July they will be taking over Naples in Italy!! Selected within a strong team consisting of 184 student athletes from 65 different Universities are University of Tasmania students, Bailey Groves and Georgina Newton.

This is not to first time Bailey has represented UTAS as part of the UniRoos in Shooting. In 2018, Bailey achieved the astounding result of Silver and he is now on the hunt for that Gold. Georgina will be making her debut as part of the Table Tennis squad.

Our students are joining the likes of Volleyball Olympian Liz Morgan-Brett who had the following to say when interviewed by Unisport. “This is the best platform for athlete looking to go further. These student athletes will face challenges at the Summer Universiade that sets them up for the Commonwealth Games and Olympics.”

Keen to aim for this selection for 2020? To be eligible, athletes should be undergraduate or graduate students within the ages 17 and 25 as t 1 January in the year of the event or graduated in the year immediately preceding the year of the year.
