Business Intelligence means exploiting all data assets – internal and external – for operational excellence and decision support. The ultimate purpose is to contribute to the University's competitive advantage.
The objectives of implementing a Business Intelligence solution across the institution are to:
- Provide timely and consistent reports to support decision making
- Support performance reporting at multiple levels within the University
- Provide governance around the data to allow scalable, repeatable and quality information, eliminating duplication and increasing effectiveness and efficiency
- Provide standardised, sustainable and scalable enterprise solution for the University
The BI unit has responsibility for developing and supporting the University's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which brings together many data sources in a single, consolidated and fully-conformed online reporting environment.
The unit works closely with a wide range of data stewards and business analysts within the University's Business Intelligence Competency Centre (BICC) to embed data driven decision making into a wide range of processes and practices that develop and maintain a robust BI platform.
