The University offers a range of online support academic and language skills development of students. These services are provided by the UTAS Student Learning Advisers and Student Learning Librarians, as well as through the 24/7 Studiosity learning support service.
These supports are provided in addition to the subject matter specific support you receive from your lecturers and tutors.
Studiosity - 24 hour study help
Online 24-hour study help, anywhere, anytime. Get feedback on your writing or help with a study question – it is free for you as a UTAS student.
You can choose to upload a draft of your writing any time 24/7 and get it back with constructive general academic literacy feedback on structure, grammar, punctuation, spelling and referencing within 24 hours.
You can also connect in real-time to have an online one-to-one chat with a Studiosity subject specialist if you need help in subjects like Essay Writing, Study Skills, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry/Biology Accounting, Statistics, Micro/Macroeconomics and more.
The service is available directly from MyLO within each of your units, via the connect now banner on the right hand side. Each student is provided 10 sessions per semester, split between written feedback or real-time sessions as you see fit.
When you log in to Studiosity, you'll be asked to set up a 4-digit security PIN for your account. This PIN adds another layer of protection to your Studiosity account, ensuring privacy and keeping your work safe. You'll need to enter that same 4-digit PIN every time you access Studiosity.
Student Learning Consultations
Student Learning Advisers and Librarians provide expert, in-depth advice on a range of academic skills, including
- scoping search topic
- choosing appropriate search tools
- finding academic sources
- developing your academic, writing and study skills
- developing English language skills
The team consists of qualified library and learning professionals, who will support you to develop your academic skills at any stage of study. Online consultations are available by appointment throughout the year, in addition to on-campus appointments on the Sandy Bay, Mid-City, Newnham, Cradle Coast, Rozelle and Darlinghurst campuses. You can attend consultations individually or in small groups.
