As a Business or Economics student in the Catalyst Program, you will connect with likeminded staff and students through an annual calendar of networking events, guest speaker visits and special seminars.

Our global Business and Economics partner institutions include EM Strasbourg Business School (France), Skema Business School (France), Mendel University of Brno (Czech Republic), The Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada), Thompson Rivers University (Canada), University of Sussex (UK), and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (Germany).

As a Catalyst student, you can receive up to $2,500 in scholarship funds if you successfully apply to undertake a semester exchange with one of these or another of the 150 partner institutions of the University of Tasmania.

  • Corporate Internship Program
    As a Catalyst student, you will be considered first for industry placements in the Corporate Internship Program during your final year of study. These internships give you invaluable industry experience and exposure to Tasmania’s top business minds.
  • Behavioural Economics for Policy Unit
    You are eligible to apply for a research project opportunity in the experimental lab as part of the Behavioural Economics for Policy Unit. These highly sought-after placements give you research support experience in applying behavioural insights to policy challenges. Projects often involve designing interventions to combat challenges, and undertaking lab or field-based experiments to test their effectiveness.
  • Other Catalyst Research Projects
    You are eligible to apply for research assistant experience in exciting research projects led by our Business and Economics investigators. These could involve data collection, quantitative or qualitative data analysis, literature reviews and much more.   • Catalyst Work Placement
    You are eligible to apply for a range of work placement opportunities including preferential access to highly-valued work-experience opportunities on key projects with industry partners and paid summer work placements in firms.   • Professional Development
    You are eligible to apply for up to $500 in financial support to fund professional development opportunities such as leadership development, advanced software training, as well as industry seminars, workshops or events.
  • Membership of Industry Associations
    You are eligible to apply for financial support to cover membership of industry associations such as the Economics Society of Australia (Tasmania), providing opportunities for you to engage and network with practicing professionals.
