Academic progress

Coursework students

You are encouraged to contact the Australia Awards coordinator to discuss support if you have any concerns about your academic progress, especially during your first semester.

The University is required to report your academic results to the scholarship provider, and maintain an up-to-date record of your academic progress.

If you fail a subject, we also report on your proposed strategy for improved academic progress. This should address the reasons for failure, and set out a plan to complete the course within the minimum time frame. The scholarship provider reviews and considers this.

We understand that it can be a stressful time, and work closely with awardees throughout this process.

Research students

The Australia awards coordinator will contact you each semester to request an update on the status of your research project.

Suspending your scholarship

You may experience health, family or other personal issues which mean you need to take time out of your scholarship.

You may be able to suspend your scholarship for a maximum total of 12 months. Your suspension must be supported by appropriate documentation.

If a scholarship suspension is approved, you must return to your home country (with your family if accompanied) for the period of suspension. While on suspension, you will not be paid stipend and your OSHC will be suspended. You should keep in contact with the Australia Awards office in your home country, and continue to monitor your University email account.

To enquire about suspending your scholarship, please Contact the Australia Awards coordinator.
