Orientation

Semester 1, 2024
Your journey starts here

Your introduction to university life

Your orientation is an interactive welcome week, where you will be introduced to your course, the environment where you will learn as well as everything the University of Tasmania has to offer.

On this page you can explore all the events throughout orientation week including your compulsory course and campus sessions.

Don't forget to register for your campus social events which include campus tours, your campus O-Day, New to Town and a bunch of other student run events.

Have your course and campus information handy at registration and stay up to date with any updates to your program in  your university email.

New to Town (compulsory if you're new to Tassie or town)

Our 'New to Town' day is an interactive orientation event to help you settle into your new town.

On the day we will answer all your starting university questions,  and you will tour your new city, make new friends, and find out ‘What’s on’ in your local community.

O-Day (essential for everyone)

Your campus 'O-day',  is a dedicated welcome, where you will receive important information about your course, learn about the various online systems, services and support available to you.

On that day you'll attend a compulsory course introduction session as well as a festival of welcome activities to immerse yourself in ahead of uni life.

Course Orientation (essential for everyone)

Your course orientation is your introduction to what you'll be studying and your course structure.

This will include things such as meeting your teachers, your timetable and where you'll be studying, your enrolment, key dates, assessments, exams and your study support services.

Our Community Engagement Leaders will be onsite at all O-Days and available at the ‘Welcome Point’ on the Sandy Bay,  Newnham and Inveresk Campuses throughout the week. They are here to help answer any questions you have and make your campus experience more enjoyable. This is also where campus tours will depart from.
