Over the course of three years a significant number of people participated in, and assisted with, Telling Places in Country. Among those were many community members.

robert_anders

Robert Anders is a Tasmanian Aboriginal man employed as professional officer in the Surveying and Spatial Sciences group, School of Geography and Environmental Studies, University of Tasmania. Robert participated in the Walk into Exile and Emu Hunters expeditions. Robert was responsible for the spatial mapping components of the project in Stage 2.

dyan

Dyan Summers is a Tasmanian Aboriginal Elder with a keen interest in Tasmanian Aboriginal history and a long association with Aboriginal community development initiatives. Dyan accompanied the project on expeditions in Stages 1 and 2.


sammy_howard

Sammy Howard is a Tasmanian Aboriginal man with a long association with the University of Tasmania both as a former student and employee. Along with his special role in smoking ceremony, on the Meeting at Bark Hut and Emu Hunters expeditions Sammy performed the duties of Camp Manager.

Danny Gardiner

Danny Gardiner is a Tasmanian Aboriginal dancer and cultural practitioner who mentored the trainees on The Emu Hunters expedition.


carol williams

Carol Williams is a keen environmentalist and bush-walker with a deep appreciation of Aboriginal culture and northeast Tasmanian placescapes. She was involved in the project for its duration.
