Abstract: Based on climate science, there is great urgency to deal with climate change, both by preparing for the changes that are already developing and in the sense of avoiding complete run-away climate change by the reduction of greenhouse gases, especially through energy transition of the built environment. Industries and the general public often see this climate action as problematic and costly, not understanding the benefits of a transition to a more liveable environment, for humans as well as nature. In his lecture, Andy will shortly present the science underlying climate urgency, the necessity to make changes in all of our lives, and mostly focus on solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation that also contribute to the creation of extra value, with examples from his work in Europe.
