The use of sensors, cameras, computers and “smart” technologies has exploded in the past few years. Our aim in this webinar is to focus on the technologies already “in play” commercially or close to adoption, rather than those still in early stage.
The 3 speakers, representing both wildlife and production animal backgrounds are:
- Dr Marissa Parrott, Reproductive Biologist, Zoos Victoria
- Carolina Diaz, Program Manager, Agri-Technology, Australian Wool Innovation
- Dr Megan Verdon, Research Fellow, TIA, University of Tasmania
Megan will be talking about TIA’s Virtual Fencing Project, this trial was conducted at the Dairy Research Facility at Elliott in North-West Tasmania. During 2018, the trials had a focus on animal behaviour as Megan, an animal behaviour specialist, investigated how to effectively introduce the technology to animals on a commercial farm to ensure rapid association of the cues with long-term retention.
