Students in berry tunnel at Costa

First-year agricultural science students got a behind-the scenes look at the booming Tasmanian agriculture industry as part of the annual tour of North West Tasmania this semester.

During their tour they visited 10 agricultural enterprises covering the majority of Tassie’s agricultural production sector including dairy, fresh and processed vegetables, hydroponic flower, fruit and vegetable production, beef and berries.

The tour is designed to provide the students with a greater understanding of why these enterprises are located where they are and how they utilise their comparative and competitive advantages to remain highly successful businesses, despite the challenges they face by being in our island state.

We would to thank our hosts for their continued support of our undergraduate teaching program.
