Associate Professor Tom Ross is an internationally regarded expert in food safety. As a Food Microbiologist in TIA’s Centre for Food Safety and Innovation, he is responding to food safety challenges and sharing knowledge with industry, students and government.
His research involves development of knowledge, and its integration into mathematical models and computer software, to help industry and government reduce the chances of food-borne infections. That knowledge and those technologies are widely used by the Australian food industry and Australian and New Zealand government agencies.
“Working in industry-focussed research introduces you to passionate and gifted people from around the country and the world, as well as enabling you to mentor equally brilliant young people to take their place in the quest for better food safety, nutrition and quality,” Associate Professor Ross said.
