Accounting

Since its inception in 1919, the Accounting discipline at the University of Tasmania has a long history of providing quality research and work-ready graduates.

The discipline has strong relationships with industry, professional associations, government and other universities. Our researchers undertake quality research that examines the impacts of accounting on society and the world, and how society and the world impact on accounting. This high-quality research promotes new thinking and innovation that informs both our teaching and the development of our accounting courses.

Accounting degrees are not just for people who want to become accountants, people with accounting skills are in high demand across a range of sectors in the ever changing business and corporate world. People with accounting knowledge are required in areas such as finance, marketing, banking and information systems in the private, public, not-for-profit and government sectors. Our undergraduate and postgraduate accounting courses are recognised by professional bodies such as CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Public Accountants.

Accounting can be studied as part of a number of degrees at the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics.
