Holomitrium trichopodum (Dicranaceae)

Holomitrium trichopodum (previously Dicranoloma trichopodum) is a relatively uncommon epiphytic moss of rainforest trees.

In the field H. trichopodum looks like a small Dicranoloma and was recognized as belonging to that genus until its capsule morphology was assessed to be different from typical Dicranoloma. It is most easily confused with Dicranoloma menziesii but the latter species is far commoner and has larger leaves (over 0.9cm).
