Distinguishing features: Very common divaricating shrub of wet forest. Ends of branches often sharp. Leaves opposite, thin, with stipules connecting the bases of the petioles of the leaves around the stem. Differs from C. nitida in having thin leaves and often smaller fruit (5 -8 mm).
