The Real-Time Power Systems Simulator (RTPSS) enables rapid and cost-effective assessment of power systems. The RTPSS utilises advanced model based techniques to simulate complex systems in the field of power, driven load dynamics, and transient phenomena attenuation that are closer to real world scenarios.

This facility provides high-end real-time digital simulators, scaling from compact portable devices to large integrated
Hardware in the Loop (HIL) test benches.

This system is capable of simulating complex power systems that includes:

  • ‘Future-proofing’ electrical and control system design
  • Power generation and storage (batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors, etc.)
  • Power electronics (motor drives, inverters, etc.)

This inclusion enables simulation of the design of digital twins and simulation of green port power modelling (i.e., cold ironing). Further, the system also helps to identify issues and non-compliance before the real system is built in a smarter, safer and environment.
