The problem

The Tasmanian potato industry relies on prophylactic pesticide applications for control of disease.

In relation to soil-borne disease, this is in absence of a good understanding of the dynamics of disease development.

The solution

Disease predictive tools enable growers to make informed decisions support allowing efficient use of pesticides and improved disease control tailored to individual fields and growers' management choices.

This will increase productivity and profitability of the Tasmanian industry, whilst decreasing food waste, pesticide use and environmental impacts and provide a valuable tool for modelling impact of future climate change.
