Health Workforce Research group

Our research informs strategy building health system capacity via evidence-based workforce development.

The health workforce is a major determinant of the capacity of the health system. Our research focuses on working in partnership with external stakeholders such as professional organisations, employers and communities to assess workforce development needs, develop and evaluate workforce development strategies and competency development interventions throughout the workforce lifecycle.

Projects

Tasmanian Allied Health Research Group Intervention Trial (TARGIT): This project has piloted a research capacity building strategy targeting Allied Health practitioners in the Tasmanian Health Service.

Tasmanian Environmental Health Workforce Development Strategy: This mixed-method project conducted in partnership with Public Health Services, Environmental Protection Authority, Local Government Association of Tasmania and Environmental Health Australia (Tas) has informed the development of a statewide workforce development strategy for EHO’s.

Health and Wellbeing Workforce Development Strategy for Local Government in Tasmania: Commission by LGAT, this mixed-method study is informing the development of a workforce development strategy for health promotion in local government jurisdictions in Tasmania.
