Sandrin has created the 'EPMA - Method Development Tool', a database of maximum range wavelength scans of more than 170 of the most common standard materials. It was created to support lab managers and users of electron microprobe facilities with the setup of analyses programs as well as for teaching purposes. Please follow the link to access to tool.

Achievements

Sandrin received his MSc (Dipl.-Geow.) from the University of Hannover in 2002 with a thesis about the formation of oceanic plagiogranites by hydrous partial melting of gabbros. In 2007, he completed his PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) at the University of Hannover, where he did experiments investigating the effect of water and oxygen fugacity on phase equilibria of primitive tholeiitic basalt magma chambers at crustal temperatures and pressures. After his PhD, he joined the Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposit Research (CODES) at UTAS, working on improving the understanding of the (pre-) intrusive evolution of mafic/ultramafic parental magmas that form layered magmatic complexes with special emphasis on the timing and causes of sulphide saturation and segregation. In 2010, Sandrin joined the electron microscopy & x-ray microanalysis facility of the CSL at UTAS.
