General Responsibilities

Career Summary

Beale has spent most of her career working concurrently in visual instructional design roles within creative industries, and as a teacher in various fields of design. She now works as an User Experience (UX) Designer within the Academic Division at the University of Tasmania.

Beale completed an undergraduate design degree at University of Tasmania (UTAS), and went on to work in a diverse range of graphic design, animation, broadcast production, interface/web design, and creative direction roles. Delivering training within broadcast and interactive production environments led Beale into teaching roles within the VET sector. Her responsibilities as a teacher included design and delivery of visual communication-based units within accredited training courses and professional development learning programs. Beale has taught into of a range of units in the areas of design and education.

Beale's production experience has primarily been in cross-disciplinary roles within focused teams on large scale projects. Her responsibilities included interface design, content creation, instructional design, and creative direction. Since 2010 the focus of her project involvement has been upon on the design of eLearning products such as QuickSmart Online, and  the facilitation of input from academics and subject experts within collaborative projects.

Beale is passionate about the application of design process to every project she undertakes, and incorporating principles of inclusive design. She has a particular interest in the intersection of accessibility and usability, and designing learning materials which engage visual learners, while adhering to accessibility guidelines.
