The ISLAND Clinic is a remarkable initiative developed by the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre at the University of Tasmania. Purpose and services
The ISLAND Clinic is a bulk-billed diagnostic interdisciplinary clinic that focuses on timely assessment and diagnosis of cognitive symptoms in Tasmanian adults with suspected cognitive impairment.
The ISLAND Clinic provides expert interdisciplinary assessment, diagnosis, support, referral, and information for individuals who have been referred to the clinic by their GP.
The clinic’s services include:
- Timely diagnosis: Identifying conditions such as Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or dementia.
- Management plans: Offering guidance on future planning, access to support services, driving advice, risk factor modification, and potential treatment options.
- Research participation: Clients can participate in research studies, contributing to a better understanding of cognitive impairment and dementia.
