The CSL is pleased to announce that a new high resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) has now been installed and commissioned in the CSL. This powerful instrument is capable of measuring elemental concentrations in a variety of (prepared) samples at the lowest ultra-trace levels, with the new technology offering world leading sensitivity and spectral resolution capabilities.
This new instrument will primarily support research in areas of strength at UTAS, such as oceanography, analytical chemistry, Antarctic studies, environmental assessment and geochemistry. The facility will also support researchers from other Tasmania external agencies, including those from funding partners AAD, CSIRO and Analytical Services Tasmania. The upgrade of this key CSL facility was supported through funding awarded via a successful 2024 Australian Research Council Linkage, Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) grant.
