Master of Economic Geology – Offered by CODES

The coursework-based Master of Economic Geology degree (MEconGeol, UTAS course code: S7W) is obtained by completing 8 two-week intensive coursework units over a minimum 2 year period, or 6 coursework units and a thesis worth 25%. Available courses cover a range of topics relevant to mineral deposit genesis, exploration and mining and are taught by the Centre for Ore Deposit and Earth Sciences at the University of Tasmania (CODES) and the University of Western Australia, as part of a national program, the Minerals Geoscience Masters.

Entry requirements are a BSc(Hons) majoring in the geosciences or a BSc (majoring in geosciences) and at least two-years subsequent full-time work experience in the minerals industry. A coursework-only degree does not qualify graduates for subsequent entry into a PhD.
