About the speakers

Kelly Drummond Cawthon: Creative Director

Kelly's experiences as a professional in the world of performance and education spans over thirty years of art, performance, directing, producing, choreographing and teaching.

Kelly has performed and presented work across the United States, Canada, Europe, Bulgaria, Brazil, Russia, Uzbekistan, Korea, Finland and Australia. Since returning to Tasmania in 2011 Kelly has worked with organisations including Salamanca Arts Centre, Kickstart Arts, Moonah Arts Centre, Tasmania Performs, Hobart City Council, MONA, MADE and as an independent performance artist. Kelly curated the inaugural MOVES festival in 2016 for Salamanca Arts Centre and  delivered Moonah MOVES in 2018 for Moonah Arts Centre, as well as the 15th National Rural Health Conference Arts and Health Program.


Luke John Campbell: Core Artist / Board member

Luke joined the Second Echo Ensemble in 2015.

He created a lead role in the Ensemble’s production of the RITE OF SPRING which premiered at Salamanca Moves in 2016. Luke was also selected to present his own work at the Festival. In 2017 Luke was an artist in residence at Critical Path where he worked with UK artist Kate Marsh. Luke’s directorial debut BY MY HAND was presented at Dark MOFO 2018 and toured to Lonely in the Rain Festival in Finland. He has studied with Philip Channels in NSW and Hobart and participated in the Theatre Royal [Hobart] Young Ambassador Program. He has performed at MONA; MONA FOMA; Dancehouse Room to Move, Melbourne; Ten Days on the Island; You Are Here Festival and Undercover Artist Festival. Luke is a 2020 Australia Council Future Leader, Arts Tasmania 2020 Educational Artist in Residence and an Emerging Artist at Back to Back CAMP. In addition to his dance practice, Luke is a musician and photographer. His photography has been exhibited at Moonah arts Centre, Hobart Waterside Pavilion and Salamanca Arts Centre.


Kylie Harris: Artistic Director

Kylie is the Founder and Artistic Director of Midnight Feast - stories that unite.

An integrated arts company for artists with disabilities developing and providing unique opportunities for performers with disabilities and able bodied performers to take on equal roles in fully integrated performances and production workshops across all stages of creative development. In 2018 Kylie was an AMP tomorrow maker recipient for her Work as an Inclusion Advocate. Immersed in the entertainment industry as a performing arts professional for over 26 years as a singer, actor, director, writer and producer, Kylie is a graduate of Actors Centre Australia and currently enrolled at NIDA in the Cultural Leadership Masters of Fine Arts.


Annette Downs: Senior Producer

Annette has worked as a university lecturer, performer and ABC TV presenter.

For 7 years she was the Artistic Director of Terrapin launching their national and international touring programs. Annette is a Churchill Fellow, a Telstra Tasmanian Businesswoman of the Year, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Tasmanian Australian of the Year finalist. She’s served on numerous Boards including the Tasmanian Development Board, Australian National Playwrights Centre, Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board and the Australia Council’s Theatre Board. In 2006 Annette established Performing Lines TAS, developing the work of Tasmanian Independent artists. She delights in taking artists beyond what they thought possible through mentorships, producing and touring. Her work was acknowledged with the 2016 Tasmanian Impresario Award and the 2019 National Facilitator’s Prize at the prestigious Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards.
